First Day of Autumn

Blink and you’ll miss it.

That’s exactly how summer went this year.

One day, the kids celebrated their last day of school, ready for summer break.

The next day, at least that’s how it feels, break was over and they were ready to start a new school year.

And here we are, the first day of autumn already upon us.

Crisp air, colorful leaves, harvest festivals, and of course Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Slow down and enjoy it while you can.

Most of all, don’t blink.

Camera on the go

I took this pic back in August, right around the time I moved from iPhone 12 to iPhone 13 Pro (no need to criticize my timing for upgrading, I really don’t care).

The lighting inside isn’t the greatest but I was able to edit and clean up in Pixelmator Photo  (free trial; $4.99/month, $29.99/year, $99.99/lifetime).

I could’ve cleaned the image up with the default Photos app, but I wanted to take it a little further.

I was impressed with the camera on iPhone 12 already, but iPhone 13 Pro blew it out of the water.

On this day, a funny, beautiful, mischievous, and intelligent woman was born. She also happened to be the best grandmother anyone could have.

I never had the chance to say goodbye before she passed, and while I know she wouldn’t hold that against me, I still have a hard time forgiving myself 26 years later.

Happy 97th birthday, Grandma. I hope you and Grandpa are proud of your great-grandchildren; I know I am.

19 MLB seasons.

13x All Star.

5x World Series rings.

Unanimously elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.

And one hell of a signature on an equally compelling baseball card.
